This substantial improvement to airport infrastructure included constructing approximately 20,000 square yards of new pavement, extending Taxiway B to the end of Runway 5-23. The extension of Taxiway B provided a means for aircraft to taxi directly to the airport terminal, eliminating the need to back taxi on the runway or to travel along lengthy taxiway routes.
This project included airport markings, new airfield lighting and signage, and a closed drainage system consisting of reinforced concrete pipe, along with associated earthwork, demolition and grassing. Associated improvements included the realignment of Doolittle Road on airport property and miscellaneous drainage improvements.
